Thanks for the memories, and life experiences, Ida and Frances via this Guest Book. I attended the 10 and 20 yr reunions and enjoyed them much We travel in the Fall. Regretfully have missed and will miss the 2024 event. THANK YOU for all the efforts put into place to renew relationships and share memories, I enjoyed single life and traveling until i turned 40! Don, my husband did the same. The priest that married us said we were "his firsts" never married and no children. We did experience Foster Care with 4 teen age boys! The first being one of Don;s students who was looking for a home. Not enough space to write those stories!! AND we were very glad for the 40 single fun years :) Retired early at 58 after doing Criminal Defense Investigation. Don and I are committed Christians. We enjoy the fullness of life, not necessarily easy, because of the teachings of Jesus. "Thank you for your service" to all the Veterans who are in our class. You are gifts to America. God's best to you all for the remaining time we have. Love, C

2019 55th Reunion! Looking forward to visiting and see whoever makes it. Thanks, Ida! My cousin, Dottie (Shepard) Jones is finally going to make this reunion. Also, if we get together for last morning breakfast, my friend/former next door neighbor in Lincoln Village/and now my "adopted brother" Ed Boulware will join us for breakfast. He is a 1959 Banning Piolet, lives in Joshua Tree and is adding an Air BNB to his home. My dear life long friend Pam (Short) Fleming died in December 2016. She went home to join our Lord Jesus. My sister, Sally Shepard, lives in Yorba Linda and I will be staying with her for a couple of weeks following the reunion before I head back north. I continue to live in Grants Pass, Oregon (51 years this September) and am in 8th year of retirement from Asante Three Rivers Medical Center, Certified Professional Medical Staff Services, after 37 years with the hospital. Married and divorced twice and now love being single, living an active and joyful life in Jesus.

January 31, 2021 OMG! 2021, already!?! Both my son and I had been exposed to someone that had tested positive, with COVID 19. Me? On the golf course, March 2020, with a friend that had just returned from a vacation in Egypt. He, his wife and I tested negative. My son and his girldfriend, January 2021, were in contact with one of their staff, at the Santa Barbara S&F store. They both tested negative! Berta and I seem to be doing well. I had to take a hiatus from CSUCI, as my doctor STRONGLY recommended it, as I have begun to experience issues related to Agent Orange. I zig and I zagged, and ran as fast as I was able, but, yeah, it finaley caught up with me. As I stated, doing well. Meds are great...! Stay well, you all, as I do look forward to chatting with everyone in 2021! Stay well and stay safe. Best wishes.

02/13/2021 Berta and I received our Vaccine 1, today. Our Vaccine 2 is scheduled for March. The VA had offered the vaccine, but I wanted to be with Berta, on this one. So far, no side effects. Time will tell. Stay safe, all.

Hello Classmates,
Just thought I'd check in with all of you at this difficult time. I must say our generation as been through many unprecedented tragedies, starting with the assassination of Presdent Kennedy, Bobby Kennedy, Martin Luther King, the Watts Riots, 911 and now Covid-19.
It truly is a trying time.
As senior citizens, it is scary, and I hope you all are taking procautions against this virus. Please stay home as much as possible. I hope this finds you all healthy and bored, but that is okay as long as none of you are sick!
If any of you read this, please post your status and let me know how you are doing. If you would like to talk to me privately on line, my email is: septnine@cox.net.
Thinking good thoughts and prayers for you and your families,
Ida

I finally advanced to full professor last year and still teach full time at Northern Michigan University. We continue extensive travel. During the 2018 Christmas break, for our 50th anniversary, we traveled over 25, 000 miles--to Tahiti, New Zealand, Australia, Fiji, Hawaii, and then across the USA to visit our 5 children's families, before returning home to snowy Michigan. After several years as a post-doctorate, one of our daughters became a full-time faculty member at Princeton University last fall.

Amazing how 50 years can pass so quickly. First and foremost, Thank you Ida and commitee for all of your hard work. I have enjoyed looking at the pictures from Fries Avenue, 40 year reunion, the names of those who are attending and sadly, those who have passed. I have been married for 36 years to a High School Teacher who kept me young through chaparoning Senior proms and football games. But, nothing compares to Banning and our mighty Pilots. After 35 years at Harbor General Hospital, I retired in 1999. Spending time with family, grandkids and traveling are my favorite pass times. I can't wait to see old friends and especially, my BFF Rachel Gutierrez Richards. Blessings to all my classmates.

Hi classmates I will not be able to attend the reunion because of complications from one of my military purple heart injuries, but I will be with all of you in spirit. I live in Lake Elsinore Ca with my wife. I did attend the 30 yr reunion and could not believe how we have all changed, so the 50yr should be a challenge for all of you.I have only one request and this is for Sandy Fitzgerald, I was good friends with her cousin Danny and her Uncle Earl, I would like to know if they are still alive and how they are doing? Francis you did a great job on this site. If any of you take pictures at the reunion send them to my email so I can share the memories with you. Take Care Steve

Congratulations to all of the class of 1964! I remember many of you from a variety of classes we were in together at Banning. I remember many of you from the Sportsnight events, sporting events, summer school, playing basketball at Banning Park in the park league, (always played against you older guys: Joe Orbillo, Jack O' Malley, Victor Proglio, Vivas Nuhee, and others from the football team), and just walking around campus. Yes many fond memories.
Sorry to hear of the passing of so many students some of which were very good friends.
Enjoy your wonderful 50th reunion and shake a leg on the dance floor just like you did back in the day at Banning sportsnights.

Yes this is a great website and event. Thank you Ida and Frances. I was shocked at the number of our classmates that have passed on. So sad because I remember them all as young beautiful people full of enthusiasm for life. Adele and I didn't get too far, living on Q Street. Hahahaha. Richard Crawford was my next door neighbor and good friend. Last I heard from his parents, many years ago, he was teaching school in Australia.

This is a great website! I've been living in OR for over 35 years - moved here from the San Diego area. I've been married for almost 47 years and have 2 sons and 3 grandkids who all live close. I retired about 7 years ago. My wife and I love to take our 5th wheel out, and hope to do it more - even thought about doing it full time! Haven't decided about the 50th reunion yet. Going through the "In Memoriam" section was pretty sad - remembered a lot of those good folks.

Love the website and the two photos of the high school. Ida and Frances: Great job! My husband Jerry and I moved to Sun City Grand, Surprise, Arizona last November. Can't believe that I left good ol' SoCal! Jerry and I both retired from Boeing and we are also RVers. Around '06 we stored all our belongings and full-timed for 3 years. A great adventure! We still RV, 4-8 months at a time. We have 3 grown children and 8 grandchildren (2 in college). I also have two artificial hips and one artificial knee. Ha! Some of you might remember that I played the violin all through school. I quit at 18 because I thought I was in love and got married---should have done the reverse. (Divorced in '77 and married Jerry in '84, we've been married 30 years!). Anyway, 4 years ago I made a bucket list and the violin was at the top of the list. My husband found a violin teacher who dug into the cobwebs of my memory and I love it! Also on the bucket list was to join an orchestra and fly in a hot air balloon. I have played in an orchestra, haven't flown in a hot air balloon. But last year I did zip line 9 Lines and repelled two trees in Hawaii! My "caboose" slowed me down on some lines. I had a great time! Thank you Jesus! Howver, I have put the hot air balloon on hold. And, still working on the rest of the bucket list. During these 50 years God has blessed me and I thank Him for a great life. I look forward to seeing you all and reminiscing over all the precious memories.

Living in the snowiest city in the USA (we still have a lot of fluff on the ground), I am looking forward to the 50th reunion this November in sunny California! Enjoying good health, I still teach computer inforrmation systems full-time at Northern Michigan University, with no plans to retire soon. During the past year, we traveled extensively, coast to coast, and to Spain and Israel.

Wow, this web site is fabulous. Great Job ladies!
Pammy Sue Short and I will be traveling together to California. Since she doesn't have a computer, I get to speak for both of us.
We became close friends in junior high school, but started kindrgarten at Dominguez Elementary School together. We married best friends...alas....no more. Have remained very closed and are both Christian women walking in the Lord. We are both retired. Pam lives in Washington and I live in Oregon. We will stay one night on the Queen Mary (the overnight of the reunion) but will be in So Cal for a couple of weeks. Love reconnecting with our classmates from Dominguez Elementary; Wilmington Junior High; and, Banning High. See Ya!

I received this interesting tidbit about the Banning picture on the front page (the original picture of Banning) from Janet Miller Gregg and I thought all of you might find it informative too. She wrote, and I quote, "Banning High was built in 1926 at a cost of $385,000. I suspect the photograph is circa 1926 as there are no shrubs around the foundation and they were planted soon after completion. The Long Beach earthquake of 1933 damaged the central ornamental peak and had to be torn down, the architect thought the smaller ornamental peaks should also come down to better balance the appearance of the facade." Thanks Janet, I appreciate the input.
